The Gallery is an attractive intimate space on the ground floor of the Museum in the centre of the town. Leading into the Jekyll style walled garden, this is a doubly pleasant place to visit when viewing an exhibition. The enhanced frontage and entrance to the museum as part of the Council Offices have increased its prominence which is close to the historic Pepperpot and Church Street.
The gallery hiring charges have always been kept at a reasonable rate in order that it be available to local artists and only a small commission is charged on work sold. Unusually, as a result of the covid pandemic, there are some slots available in the first half of 2022 in this popular venue.
Godalming Museum Gallery offers artists exhibition slots of 3-4 weeks throughout the year. The hanging system for strung pictures is very simple, flexible and versatile and allows for pictures to be hung above each other . The gallery walls are all velcro friendly and so unframed mounted prints are easily displayed. As a guide, there is room for around 30 A3 size artworks on the walls. A deep full length 3 feet wide shelved glass cabinet is available for 3D objects.
