Guildford Opera return to the Electric Theatre to perform 2 well-known iconic one-act Italian operas, Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci featuring complimentary tales of passion, jealousy and betrayal in 1950’s village life. They are sung in English in a new translation by Peter Melville and accompanied by an orchestra and chorus. Enjoy the drama and such well-known favourites as the Easter Hymn, the Intermezzo and Vesti la Giubba.

Guildford Opera has been performing opera and operetta for over 40years, at venues in Guildford, most recently at the Electric Theatre. Working with experienced music and stage directors, we seek to achieve a high musical and dramatic standards. We attract many young soloists who go on to have successful careers in both UK and international opera houses.

The company is run by its members, who are responsible for all aspects of performance both on and off stage. If you think you would prefer to help behind the scenes, as backstage crew, set building and painting, costumes, props, publicity etc – then you will be equally welcome.
