The quartet performs a wide sweep of Argentinian tango music, from the golden era of the 1920s and '30s, through to the tango nuevo masterpieces of Piazzolla, and on to contemporary composers. El Chamuyo takes this repertoire as a starting point for improvisation, blurring the boundaries between tango and jazz. The quartet regularly performs at milongas for tango dancers! Featuring virtuoso violinist Kamila Bydlowska, jazz pianist Adam Dyer, Simon Cook on chromatic bandoneon and Juampi Mauro on double bass.
From 19.15 Jazz from 20:00 to 22:15 at Guildford Pavilion, Woodbridge Road, GU1 4RP.
