The philosopher Heraclitus wrote:

Unless you expect the unexpected
you will never find the truth,
for it is hard to discover
and hard to attain.
Nature loves to hide.

This cryptic utterance carries a lot of meaning for me, and I find the experience of deep observation to be transformative. Giving attention to the natural world reveals many things, sometimes present, sometimes in the imagination. I try to bring those discoveries to my work.
