Guildford Art Society began in 1923 and has a current membership of 251 artists practising and non-practising, amateur and professional. The Society offers a full programme of demonstrations, talks, workshops and two exhibitions annually and is a social as well as creative organisation.

We were established to encourage the visual arts, painting, sculpture and crafts. To that end the Committee arranges demonstrations, outdoor painting days, workshops and exhibitions. Members also get together informally and organise their own events, social and craft related.

Specialising in free-blown glass, Adam Aaronson’s glass artwork experiments with self-taught methods, including painterly techniques and abstract patinas. Recently, he has been developing larger scale organic forms and exploring the idea of layering and glacial structures. Adam often uses hot glass methods to achieve forms more usually associated with kiln forming or cold assembled techniques.

Fircroft, an early Victorian house on Albury Heath in the Surrey Hills, is the home of artist Frank Taylor and his wife Christine who regularly organise extensive exhibitions of contemporary art in their home and its grounds.

Every summer they open their home to show the work of more than fifty artists whose work they admire. Many of these artists are well-known in their part of the world, some have national or international reputations, but their work is not often shown in this area of the southeast.
