All of our members enjoy the world of clay.
Many of our members are makers and produce domestic, decorative and sculptural ceramics. They may be teachers, professional ceramicists or enthusiastic amateurs.
The Society also welcomes members who have a general interest in ceramics but who are not actively makers.

The Society of Designer Craftsmen (SDC) is the original Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society and the largest multi-craft society in the UK, founded in 1887 as the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society with Walter Crane, William Morris and William de Morgan amongst our distinguished forebears. Our sub-group was formed in 1993 by SDC Members living in the area with the object of holding regular exhibitions.

The Society exists to provide exhibition opportunities for our members, to encourage interaction and exchange of ideas and to promote a greater appreciation of sculpture within society. The consistent quality of our artists is reflected in the prestigious venues that host our exhibitions, year on year.

Surrey Contemporaries are a group of artists based mainly in Surrey, the majority of whom originally met at art classes. Each artist has their own individual style, but all are united in their desire to paint in a modern, contemporary way. Using mainly acrylics and oils, often including paint mediums and collage, their work covers a diverse range of subjects; from landscapes to life, animals to abstract or still life to seascapes. To contact an individual artist, visit Our Members page.
