The Godalming Theatre Group (GTG) was the brainchild of the late Desmond Holt, from Godalming, who decided to put on a youth pantomime in the Wilfred Noyce Hall in 1964.

Founder member David Dray said there were more people in the audience than on stage, and he is both astounded and proud that GTG has grown into a group that puts on £25,000 productions in the near professional Ben Travers Theatre in the grounds of Charterhouse School, although it still rehearses in ‘the Wilfie’.

It produces three main productions a year – a musical, a play and a traditional Christmas panto. This variety appeals to members who can choose the genre they enjoy, or try a new challenge.
