THURSDAY 4TH AUGUST OR THURSDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2022 AT 10.45 AM
The lecture, which will explore the work of the American colourist Milton Avery (1865-1952), will take place in Wonersh, Near Guildford to coincide with the exhibition of his work at the Royal Academy, London. Avery was a contemporary of Henri Matisse and a mentor to Mark Rothko but he is not widely known in the UK. He forms a bridge between the American Impressionists and the Abstract Expressionists and it is fascinating to see how his work evolved over time. He was considered by Rothko and his contemporaries as “a painter’s painter”. If you would like to know more about the Lecture or would like to book a place - do please contact me (details below) . The lecture will last about 1 hour. Tea/Coffee and biscuits on arrival.
