Artists have painted self portraits from as early as 1433.  The artist's self is the cheapest and most available model and so there are a plethora of examples to examine and discuss.  In this talk Melanie will cover a wide range of artists' self portraits from Jan Van Eyck to Picasso, Andy Warhol and David Hockney and will look at what their portraits tell us about them and their painting methods.
