Join us on March 19th at New House Art Space to celebrate International Women’s Month with Femme Film’s screening of Cleo From 5 to 7 (1962).

Femme Films is a female-led, Guilford-based community cinema that aims to screen monthly films written and directed by women.

Agnès Varda’s second feature remains a highlight of the extraordinary outpouring of French movies in the early 60s. Following a pop singer around the streets and parks of Paris as she whiles away two hours awaiting the results of some medical tests, this subtle, innovative character study also succeeds brilliantly as a stylish, vivid documentary-style portrait of a wondrously vibrant city.

Today, Agnès Varda is still endlessly celebrated not only for having the longest career of any female filmmaker (65 years), but for being a fierce and dominant creative force who redefined what it means to be an artist.

Doors will open at 6:30pm with the short film (TBC) starting around 7:15pm and the feature around 7:30pm. Keep an eye on our socials (Instagram @FemmeFilmsCinema) for more information in the weeks leading up to the screening!
